Excerpt from JCYC Up Close Summer 2018 Where Are They Now This Summer, JCYC is officially kicking off our “Where Are They Now” campaign. Our goal is to connect with as many JCYC alumni as possible in preparation for our momentous 50th anniversary coming up in 2020. We’d like to get the ball rolling by inviting all of our alums to participate in our “Tag a JCYC Kid” activity. At least once a month, we’ll be posting photos on our Facebook and Instagram pages and need your help to identify (tag) as many past JCYC kids as possible. We’d like everyone who sees these photos to share them widely so we can connect with JCYC kids from years past. I know many of you will get a good chuckle and a nostalgic feeling seeing images of yourselves and others from back in the day. Please be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram so you can participate.   In each Up Close Newsletter, we’ll also be featuring an alum and what they are up to now. For this edition, we’d like to profile our very own Emily Murase. Emily is a true JCYC alum having attended our daycamp back in the 1970’s and served as a staff member in the 1980’s. Emily has accomplished too much to list, but one of her most noteworthy achievements was once upon a time hiring a clueless youth named Jon Osaki to be a daycamp counselor.  Today, Emily serves as the Executive Director of the Commission on the Status of Women and is the first Japanese American to ever be elected to the San Francisco Unified School District Board of Education.  Please be on the lookout for our “Where Are They Now” social media posts and future alumni profiles. Sincerely, Jon Osaki To download a complete version of JCYC Up Close Summer 2018, click here.
