May 27, 2020 JCYC's 2020 Founder's Day celebrates 50 years of serving the children and youth of San Francisco! Since our inception on May 27, 1970, JCYC has developed into a leading child and youth development service provider in San Francisco and San Mateo County. JCYC is celebrating this year's milestone Founder's Day by sending a big thank you to all who have helped JCYC get to where we are today. We would like to express our gratitude to the trailblazing and innovative Founders, who established a vision to ensure San Francisco's Nihonmachi (Japantown) had an organization focused on young people. This movement to create an organization for young people by young people served as the foundation for JCYC  to provide a platform and influential voice for youth in Japantown and beyond. To all the dynamic and compassionate Staff and Board Members, who helped develop and modernize our programming to adapt to the changing needs of the children and youth JCYC serves, we thank each and every one of you. Your dedicated support has been the key to helping JCYC thrive in cultivating and enriching the lives of over 7,000 Bay Area children and youth annually from diverse, multicultural communities. The founder of JCYC's Daycamp program in 1971 and current Board Member, Kitty Kitagawa Mah reflects on her 50 years of supporting JCYC: "Just as it did 50 years ago, JCYC continues to lead in providing innovative and essential youth services. The most wonderful people I have known throughout the years have been from JCYC. My hope is for JCYC to continue to enhance the development of our San Francisco Bay Area youth." Thank you to everyone for the incredible support, generosity, and love that has made it possible to celebrate our big 50th birthday!
